What is Relax Kids?

Relax Kids Haywards Heath offers a nurturing, structured programme designed to support children’s social, emotional, and mental wellbeing in and around the Haywards Heath area. Rooted in evidence-based techniques, the sessions help children learn how to calm their minds, manage emotions, improve focus, and build confidence.

This approach is particularly beneficial for children with early signs of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and those eligible for Pupil Premium support.

Each session follows a proven 7-step model, blending movement, mindfulness, creativity, and relaxation to help children feel safe, supported, and empowered:

Move – Energising activities to awaken and engage

Play – Interactive games to encourage connection and fun

Stretch – Gentle movements to promote body awareness and focus

Feel – Calming massage techniques to explore sensation and communication

Breathe – Guided breathing for physiological regulation

Believe – Positive affirmations to build resilience and self-worth

Visualise – Deep relaxation through guided imagery and storytelling

Mindful pauses are woven between each stage, allowing for self-reflection and emotional awareness—skills that extend beyond the session and into their everyday lives.

Bringing Relax Kids into Your School

Relax Kids Haywards Heath offers flexible session formats tailored to meet the needs of primary school settings. The programme supports emotional literacy, behaviour regulation, and mental health initiatives.

Current Programme Formats:

  • Timetabled Interventions
Weekly group sessions run during the school day in half-termly blocks, providing consistent wellbeing support over time.

  • Transition Support Sessions
Designed for anxious or vulnerable pupils, these intensive courses take place over a week during school holidays, helping ease the move between settings or year groups.

  • Flexible Options Available:

    • Before- or after-school sessions

    • Parent-child joint sessions

    • Event-based courses (e.g., for Mental Health Awareness Week)

Recommended Age Group:
My sessions are mostly aimed at children in upper Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2 (Years 1–4). If you think that a particular child or group of children might enjoy taking part in sessions suited to this developmental stage, I am more than happy to chat about this.

Group Size & Structure:

  • Sessions are typically run for 4 to 8 children

  • Designed to run without additional adult support (subject to needs and school discussion)

All sessions are delivered in line with best practices for safeguarding, and schools will be provided with ready-to-use parent letters and service-level agreement templates to streamline setup. Relax Kids Haywards Heath offers flexible session formats tailored to meet the needs of primary school settings.
